This test identifies your dominant eye, which is important for activities like photography, sports, and vision therapy.
Your dominant eye is the one that provides slightly more input to the visual cortex and tends to be the one you instinctively use when looking through a viewfinder or aiming.
You'll need to perform a simple physical test where you'll look at a target through a triangular opening in your hands.
Make sure you're about 3-4 feet (1 meter) away from your screen.
Stretch your arms out in front of you and form a small triangle (about 1 inch/2.5 cm per side) between your thumbs and index fingers.
With both eyes open, center the triangle on the target below.
Keep focusing on the red dot through the triangle.
While keeping your hands steady, alternately close each eye:
The eye that keeps the target centered in the triangle is your dominant eye.
Which eye kept the target centered?
Note: About 70% of people are right-eye dominant, 20% left-eye dominant, and 10% have no strong dominance.
This test is for informational purposes only. Consult an eye care specialist for professional evaluation.
